Welcome to our Campaign Website!
THANK YOU—for your wonderful support over the past two months! After a short but hard-fought campaign, Jim finished the Primary Election in a virtual dead-heat with the incumbent, with only .5% separating the two candidates!
Now we're looking forward—to the General Election in November, and a one-on-one battle with Kitty Piercy!

"If you are a Eugene voter, you have an important choice to make in the direction our community will travel. Thanks for taking the time to consider my qualifications, and the vision I have for our city.
"As many of you know, I served two terms as Mayor before deciding not to run in 2004. Making the decision to run again has been difficult for me. I made the choice very recently — within the last week before filing deadline actually — although I considered the choice for a number of months before that.
"My decision was influenced by literally hundreds of people who contacted me by phone and email urging me to run because they are concerned about Eugene's future. Many hundreds more have since volunteered to help in the campaign effort.
"I've adapted this quote from Upton Sinclair, which expresses my feelings about people who follow their conscience, and commit themselves to work for the public good:
'Public service is the spirit that prompts someone to plant a tree that he or she may never sit under.'
"I invite you to join us in planting some trees that will provide a healthy future for the people of Eugene. Please vote on May 20th. "
